Have you ever heard of the "missing middle" in the agricultural finance sector?

These are investment loans (duration of 5 to 7 years) for amounts of between €50,000 and €1 million, which are particularly difficult to obtain for farmers, small farmer cooperatives and agri-food SMEs in low-income countries, but which are necessary to grow their businesses and sustain their activities.

Kampani, a Belgian social impact investment fund, has demonstrated that it is entirely possible to meet the challenges associated with this issue. Find out how in this article.

For several years, Louvain Coopération has been a partner of Kampani, being a small shareholder with representation on their Board of Directors. We made this choice because it is an innovative initiative, based on a varied shareholder base that includes private companies, a university, Belgian NGOs and public funds. And, above all, it has high-impact objectives that ensure that producers and cooperatives are not held back in their development by a lack of means and long-term financial resources. It's an investment of which Louvain Coopération is particularly proud.
