This summer, two students from the Master's programme in Water-Energy-Food Nexus, jointly run by ULiège and UCLouvain, visited our teams in Burundi and Madagascar as part of their end-of-study internship.

Rose Kilie, a graduate in Agricultural Sciences, completed her internship in Madagascar, in the Menabe region, within the communities of Morondava and Tsiribihina. Her work focused on assessing the availability of water resources, which are essential for agricultural micro-irrigation and access to drinking water, in a context of climate change.

Dylan Leufak, a renewable energy engineer, joined our team in Makamba, Burundi. His project aimed to improve current practices around water and renewable energy, with a view to promoting sustainable, diversified agricultural production capable of adapting to fluctuations in natural resources.

The results of Rose and Dylan's work will provide valuable information to strengthen our support for local communities by tailoring our actions to the realities of each region and taking into account the long-term impacts of climate change. These studies contribute to building a knowledge base that will be useful for more targeted and effective interventions in the future.

We are already defining new areas of research for students wishing to get involved in this type of internship, convinced that collaboration with young researchers brings a rewarding dynamic and innovative perspectives to the fulfilment of our mission.
