Citizen education: Questioning patriarchal dominations

Louvain Cooperation attaches great importance to promoting the skills and rights of women in its international projects. This sustained attention to women is also reflected in our initiatives carried out in Belgium.

As part of our Global and Solidarity Citizenship Education program, we attach central importance to inclusiveness and the questioning of patriarchal dominations, both in Belgium and around the world. This is why we have chosen to work in collaboration with the intersectional feminist circles of UCLouvain to promote and extend the values conveyed by this cause. Our objective is to integrate these values not only into the academic curriculum, but also by taking into account the realities of life of all women.

Last October, in collaboration with the Angela intersectional feminist project, we produced our first edition of “Feminist’ival”.

Last October, in collaboration with the Angela intersectional feminist project, we produced our first edition of “Feminist’ival”.

We presented the powerful documentary “Les Nouvelles Guérillères”, produced in 2020 by Elisa VDK. It highlights the actions of around ten Brussels collectives engaged in promoting and raising public awareness of feminist causes, through a variety of modes of action and areas such as reflection on public space.

Also present among the various collectives hosted, the non-profit feminist organization in the Brussels Region “Noms Ouverte”. This highlights women from here and elsewhere, denounces the invisibility of women in public space and in History and offers inspiring models to all.
