The Vitruvian Pendulum: a new Escape Game in Louvain-la-Neuve!

This February a brand new escape game will be setting up in Louvain-la-Neuve. The aim? Solve riddles scattered around the city in a limited amount of time to unlock the secret of a cursed clock.

Louvain Coopération, the Maison du Développement Durable (MDD), and UCLouvain have collaborated to create this project which, in a fun way, invites us to explore the major issues facing our planet.

It was in a letter dated July 1965 that Georges Lemaître laid the foundations for the beginning of your adventure:

"Dear colleagues, a cursed object has reached me, much in spite of myself. On the face of it, it was no more than a simple clock. And yet it conceals secrets that I had no idea existed. When I tried to get it working again, I discovered that other scientists had studied it, and they had all come across the clock's terrible secret. I am writing to you to ask you and to urge you with all my strength not to open this dangerous artefact. What it shows is unbearable and I have sealed it forever. The fate of humanity will remain secret forever. "

In teams of 6 to 12 players, you'll have 60 minutes to unlock the secret of the Vitruvian Pendulum. Your intellectual abilities, your legs, and your knowledge of the Neolovan city will be essential assets in solving the many mysteries that will present themselves to you!

An educational objective

As well as being fun, this project also serves as a educational tool to evoke the themes of the ecological and social transition: the anthropocene, energy, digital, natural resources, biodiversity loss, climate justice, decolonial ecology and ecofeminisms. Through the game, these themes are tackled in a way that is accessible to all, demystifying sustainable development for a wider audience. You don't need to be an expert to have fun!

This escape game has been made possible thanks to the financial support of the European Union, via the Wallonia-Brussels Federation as part of the Mindchangers project: regions and their young people commit to the planet and its inhabitants. Its content is the sole responsibility of Louvain Coopération and does not necessarily reflect the views of the European Union.
