The General Assembly of Louvain Coopération was held on 15 June. It was an opportunity to review the highlights of 2022, but also to discuss the major projects that will define the life of our NGO in the coming years.

From the new projects launched with the support of the European Union on biodiversity in Burundi and civil society organisations in the DRC, to our Partnership Study Day and the redefinition of our missions, visions and values, our Annual General Meeting gave us the opportunity to look back at the events that have marked the life of our organisation in 2022.

In terms of finances, despite the unexpected challenges encountered in 2022, such as the Ukrainian crisis and its consequences on energy costs and salary indexation, we were able to record a positive result of €18,486.32 in 2022.

This meeting was also an opportunity to project ourselves into the future, particularly around an action plan relating to our values: learning, innovation, impact, partnership and solidarity are the ones we advocate. We want these values to be more than just words or marketing ploys; we want them to be reflected in our projects and to represent LC's corporate culture. The creation of a solidarity fund, an inclusive knowledge management policy and the establishment of clear, shared criteria for partnership commitment are just a few examples of the actions present in this plan.

We have also discussed ways of forging closer links with the other Belgian university NGOs that make up the Uni4Coop consortium with us. Our aim is to pool our strengths and talents even more effectively to improve our actions around the world.

Welcome new talent

A new administrator has joined the ranks of those invested in our organisation. She is Anne Falier, a Civil Mechanical Engineer with a degree from UCLouvain. She explains: "I'm interested in finding out more about the world of cooperation, through an organisation with which I identify in terms of values. I work at UCLouvain as a sustainable development officer and I collaborate with the Walloon Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the field of sustainable entrepreneurship certification. I was also Managing Director of Axedis, an adapted work company employing 180 people, for 7 years. So I'm well aware of the difficulty of striking a balance between the human and the economic. Maintaining financial equilibrium is not an end in itself, but it is essential if we are to keep an active organisation and achieve our social objectives. So I think I have things to contribute at Louvain Coopération and I'm delighted to be joining the team."

Welcome to her and thank you for her commitment.
